Glee Gum Review & Giveaway

 

     I am so excited to tell you about an awesome product I got to review!  How many of you have heard about Glee Gum? Well, I am here to tell you all about it. 

Glee Gum is a certified woman-owned business and a proud member of 1% for the Planet and America. They are the makers of Glee Gum: All natural chewing gum and Make Your Own Candy Kits (educational kits for children) . They sell three different candy kits - Make Your Own Chocolate, Make Your Own Chewing Gum, and Make Your Own Gummies. A BIG thanks to Glee Gum who sent me a Make Your Own Gummies Kit!

Their activity kits for children are fun and educational. They are great for science classes, birthday parties, scout troops, and home schools. Kids can make chocolate, chewing gum, or gummy candy and learn a lot in the process!

The kit comes with everything you need to make the gummy candy, including a piece of seaweed that provides the gel needed to make the candy.  Because the candy is made with seaweed instead of the traditional gelatin, these candies are also vegetarian/vegan!



  

When I first opened the package, and started reading the instructions, I was a little intimidated..There seemed to be a lot of steps, and I was kind of nervous....But, as it turns out, there was no need to be! It really was easy! I was really surprised to learn that the gummies were made using seaweed. I had no idea what seaweed had to do with making gummy candy until Glee Gum taught me about it! Turns out, there are natural gelling ingredients found in seaweed (carrageenan and agar), and that is what makes the gummies "gummy". I totally learned something from this review!



      Then you make the molds. You can use pretty much anything around the house that you can find that is kind of deep, and will make a detailed shape. I used soda caps, Fuze caps and our fingers :) The next step is mixing together the other ingredients and microwaving them. This is pretty fun because it gets foamy and weird looking. You actually microwave it with that piece of  seaweed inside, and then take the seaweed out at the end. Then you just have to pour the gel into the molds, and put them in the microwave until they get firm. After that, you just pop them out of the molds and, viola! Your own gummies! They even included some sour sprinkly stuff to put on top.

      One thing I really liked about this kit is that you can re-use the powder stuff that you make the molds out of. You just flatten it out and start over. That way, as long as you have the gel stuff left, you can keep creating more! The box says it makes the equivilant of 15 gummy candies, but we got more than that.

     I was really pleased with the result of the Make Your Own Gummies Kit from Glee Gum! It was a nice change of pace and it was really fun to actually have something to "do" together. Glee Gum also has a Make Your Own Chewing Gum Kit and a Make Your Own Chocolate Kit that I am looking forward to trying, too.
