Review: Game Night with UnboxBoardom

Have you heard about UnboxBoardom? It is a subscription board game service and you get brand-new games delivered right to your front door! You can select from featured monthly games or just be surprised. They have different styles of games that range from family games to strategy games to party games. Also, because they want everyone to be able to enjoy the excitement from playing board games, for every 10 new board game subscription box signups, they will donate a board game to an organization that helps kids who can't afford one. 

Sign up and checkout was super easy, very quick, and extremely clear. I really liked how they would give you 3 different options to choose from. We have a lot of board games here and I wouldn't want to get one I already had. If a subscriber doesn't choose a game within five days from receiving the email, UnboxBoardom will surprise you and send you a random game from that month's selections. You even get the option to "skip" a month if none of the games interest you or if you already have the games. 

                            

We chose Station Master because it seemed the most interesting to play with the family. I've never seen this game before and it sounded interested but it did take awhile to understand and get the gist of the game. I played with my kids and after a few rounds we started to understand and the game took off. 

We had a fun night and love this idea of having games shipped right to our house. With plans starting at $29.99, I would recommend that you check it out and see how you can UnboxBoardom!

America's Incredible Pizza Company Review

Have you ever hard of America's Incredible Pizza Company? It is an awesome place to go play and have fun with your family. 

When you first walk in, you will notice several eating rooms to choose from. Each room has a different theme. The one in the picture, Memphis High School, has a high school theme inside which was really cute. 

Who doesn't love a buffet?! America's Incredible Pizza has one of the best buffets (per my children). There have so many food options! You can either help yourself to the pizzas they already have made or (the best part) is you can ask them for your own special pizza! 

My favorite was the salad bar! This picture doesn't show all the choices but there was eggs, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, croutons, bacon, cheese and much more. 

When you walk into their arcade there are a BUNCH of video games to chose from! One of my kids favorite games to play was this Nascar driving game. They loved being side by side racing!

Ha, my kids are so focused!

I personally could sit here all day and play this one. I loved the larger then life screen. 

My kids loved the hand protectors for the air hockey game. That's a great idea!

When your kids are finished playing and now want to redeem their tickets...

There are prizes galore to choose from. If you want to save your tickets and add to them the next time you come, you can!

Lastly, America's Incredible Pizza Company also has small attractions for an extra fee. 

They have a small little roller coaster inside that you can ride. My kids thought it was pretty fun!

This was fun. It's like bowling but you're using much smaller balls to hit the pins.

In my opinion this course was very small and hard to maneuver. There isn't much room to move. 

My kids couldn't get enough of laser tag. This was by far their favorite attraction. The room they played inside of was rather large and well designed. 

This was a fun little attraction to let the kids have fun and drive.

Girl Scouts Brownie Badges & Fun Patches - #Oobleck

There are so many things my daughter loves about Girl Scouts but her absolute favorite part is earning badges and patches. What's the difference you ask? Fun patches go on the back of her uniform. These acknowledge things she has done with the group or on her own that was a fun learning experience. She has one for going to the Memphis Zoo, losing her tooth, going to a rodeo when she was in Texas visiting her Nana, each state she visits we find a patch for the state, taking a tour of City Hall and the Police Station... The list goes on. There's a patch for everything! 

Brownie Badges (they are triangle) go on the front. She must complete 5 steps on a certain topic to earn a Brownie Badge. One of her favorite Brownie Badges she's earned so far would be the Home Scientist Badge. She learned out to make salt & pepper dance (without touching it), blow up a balloon without using her mouth, make raisins dance (without touching them), make ice cream and dinosaur snot. Yes, I said dinosaur snot! You might know it by it's other name, Oobleck. 

Oobleck is a classic science experiment that's perfect for entertaining both kids and adults. I'll admit, I had fun playing with it! Oobleck acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands. 

All you need is corn starch and food coloring (optional).

Recipe:

1 cup water

1.5-2 cups corn starch

a few drops of food coloring

Start with the water in your bowl and then add the corn starch to it. You can use a spoon to start with but then you'll find yourself finishing with your hands. When you get close to adding about 1.5 cups of the corn starch, start adding it more slowly and mixing it with your hands. You can trying to go for a consistency where the Oobleck reaches a state that is liquid and yet a solid. Now that your Oobleck is just right, add a few drops of food coloring. Make sure it is all mixed together and then have fun with it. 

Have fun and make sure to wash it all off in the end.

Mid-South Corn Maze - #Memphis

There's just something about a corn maze that makes getting lost.... FUN! We headed to the Mid-South Maze to try out their Corn Maze (October). As we got there, my daughter was SO excited that as soon as the car parked, she was ready to hop out. We reached the beginning and bought our tickets. We told her that she could lead us all the way through. Here's the maze we had to get through...

You can almost see the building on the bottom right. That's where we started. It was fun watching my daughter think very carefully as to where she wanted to turn. We did find ourselves walking in circles quite a few times.  There even was a time she tried following another family, thinking they knew how to get out of the circle we were in. Sadly, they were no walking in circles with us. We just couldn't figure it out. 

After a few, "Mom, I think we are really lost!" and several "Are they going to leave us in here all night?" we were able to put our thinking caps on and figure out which path to take (process of elimination). 

When we finally reached the end, the picture on top was the "jump for joy" pose she made.  Also, she was happy that she earned her Corm Maze patch for Girl Scouts!!! We just love Girl Scouts.

Summertime Fun! #Wildlife Rehabilitation

In today's adventures, we went to our library and noticed that they had a few animals there that the kids can interact with. These animals are apart of the Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation.

This photo took a little coaxing to get. My daughter likes to second guess herself. She says yes but then she backs out and says, No, it's okay. I find the best thing I can do is ask her why she changed her mind and listen. We took a step back and watched the other children interact with the snakes. I would ask her what she thought the snakes felt like, did she think they are heavy or light, wet or dry and once her curiosity got going, she went and stood in line. 

Here's my son with a Flying Squirrel.  He told me the squirrel was super soft and very light. 

"Oh, Mommy! He's so cute. Can we get one?"

How To Make Amazing Slime

Oh my goodness, just look at how happy my son it. Doesn't it make you smile? I found the easiest recipe on how to make slime and I can't wait to tell you. I'll have to admit... I was playing with this slime, too!!

Yep, that's all you need (oh and water, too) and I am sure you can find some great deals on the glue right now with all the back to school sales. SCORE!!

- TWO 4 oz. bottles of Elmer’s Glue
- 1 tsp. Borax (found in the laundry detergent section of the store)
- Water
- Bowl
- Food Coloring

Begin by emptying the two bottles of glue into a bowl. Then fill bottles with warm water and shake. Empty them into your bowl.

 Add some food coloring and carefully stir it all together. Next add 1/2 cup warm water to your cup. Add 1 tsp. borax to the water and mix until borax dissolves. Then pour this into your glue bowl. Start stirring and you will notice how it starts becoming stringy. Keep mixing by using your hands and squishing around. You will notice after a few minutes that it has become pretty gelatinous.

Let the kids play with it for a bit and it will become the perfect GOOEY consistency!

This has to be the best homemade craft/project I’ve done with the kids. It doesn’t smell and get all over and it’s so fun to play with! PLUS, it is super cheap to make! SCORE
